Visiting Schools Responsibilities
Management of Medication and health information
The school representative on the walk manages the medication and the medicinal consent forms. They are required to inform the Trek Leader of any significant medical conditions a participant has prior to the walk. Any medications given are required to be registered by the school representative. The register is to be filed at Sunday Creek.
Distribution of Trek Participant Information Sheet
It is the schools responsibility to ensure that all participants receive a trek information sheet (Appendix C) outlining what to bring and what not to bring on the trek.
Transport
It is the schools responsibility to arrange transport to the Centre and from Boloumba Creek Day Use Area 2. If a student is pulled out in a non-emergency, Sunday Creek will transport the student to Charlie Moreland Camping Area. If the students parent or guardian is unable to pick up the student, it will be the schools responsibility to arrange the transport.
Supervision
The school is required to send at least one adult supervisor to accompany the students on the Trek. The school is required to ensure that at least on of the adults is of the same sex as the student group. One of the adult supervisors should ideally be the "key person" who has been and will be continuing to work with the students after the trek (See Key Components for Maximising Success).
Understanding of Programs Rationale
The schools is responsible for having a sound understanding of the objectives and underlying philosophy of the program in order to present an accurate picture to staff, students, and other community representatives.
