Appendix B - Suggested Timeline - Sunday Creek Wilderness Trek Organisation

12 weeks prior to Trek:
  • Identify a key person who is familiar with Trek rationale and aware of commitment required. Start training now!!
8 weeks prior to Trek:
  • Identify appropriate students.
  • Make a date for parent information session in week seven and a teacher information session. Contact Sunday Creek to see if Wilderness Trek Coordinator can attend both sessions.
7 weeks prior to Trek:
  • Distribute permission letters and invitation to parent information evening.
  • Address staff regarding Trek Program with support of Wilderness Coordinator if available between week 7 and week 2.
6 weeks prior to Trek:
  • Parent information session.
  • Initial student group meeting.
6 to 2 weeks prior to Trek:
  • Team building exercises to monitor group dynamic and make changes if necessary.
  • Organising transport details.
2 weeks prior to Trek:
  • Wilderness Trek Leader school visit (Time will be arranged by Sunday Creek.)
  • Give medical information to Trek Leader
1 weeks prior to Trek:
  • Final meeting with student group to finalise requirements, expectations and transport.
  • Collate emergency numbers and medical information

1 week after Trek:
  • Key person meets with group to debrief.
2 weeks after Trek:
  • Post visit by Trek Leader - to be advised by Sunday Creek
  • Feedback to Staff - reinstating Trek rationale
