Appendix A - Facilitating Awareness - Sunday Creek's General Framework for working with Students on the Wilderness Trek Program

The following is a framework describing more specifically how we're currently working with students while on the Trek. Facilitating Awareness is a term which seems to fit the process well and is aligned with aspects of Reality Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Perceptual Control Theory. The process is founded on asking questions that allow students to access their own wisdom, as opposed to preaching, moralising or coercing. The process is then enhanced by participants being encouraged to seek nonjudgmental feedback from other participants, including the facilitator.
