Teachers' Responsibilities

Before Camp

  • Have necessary consent forms signed by parents and returned to school.
  • Arrange food and transport.
  • Distribute "student personal checklist".
  • To ensure the visit to the Centre is in context with classroom programs.
  • Organise cabin groups.
  • Centre staff will be on duty for one night and will take activities for that night.
  • Organise activities for other night/nights.
  • Provide adequate supervision. At least 2 adults must accompany the group. (It is preferred to have at least one male and certainly one female with each group.)
  • Provide a person with a current first aid certificate. (If a suitable person cannot be found, please advise the Principal at Sunday Creek well before hand so that appropriate arrangements can be made.)
  • Be familiar with your students' medical requirements.
  • Ensure suitable medical forms accompany the group. A question relating to the use of Panadol for headaches and/or fever may be appropriate.

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS NEED TO BE SUPPLIED BY YOUR CLASS FOR YOUR CAMP:

The following items are based on a 3 day camp with approx 25 students

  • 10 rolls toilet paper per camp(unbleached recycled toilet paper)
  • dish cloths
  • pot scourers
  • detergent(environmentally friendly, phosphate free biodegradable)
  • 3 bars of soap
  • 2 boxes of matches
  • 2kg of self-raising flour per 25 students if doing the Damper & Billy Tea activity
  • All visitors should bring a hat and have access to sunscreen
  • First Aid kit

Warning: Any children who have been sick in the week leading up to camp should be encouraged not to attend to eliminate the chance of cross infection.

On Camp

  • Care and supervision of students after "lights out" and until breakfast preparation.
  • Supervision of meal preparation and washing up.
  • Distribution of all home supplied medication in accordance with Departmental Guidelines.
  • Contribute towards the program where appropriate and assist in Centre activities as required.
  • Modeling teaching styles and attitudes consistent with the Centre's philosophy.
  • Supervision of showers, second night activities and free time between activities.
